Celebrating Positive Trends in Women’s College Athletics

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate women in collegiate athletics this Women’s History Month. Some notable trends in women’s participation and leadership published by the NCAA earlier this month include:

  • the number of student-athletes competing in women’s championship sports increased 5% from last year to this year

  • the total number of student-athletes competing in college sports increased 16% over the past decade

  • the total number of female Athletic Directors increased 30% over the past decade

  • the total number of female Head Athletic Trainers increased 21% over the past decade
