Iowa student-athletes plead guilty for underaged gambling

The NCAA and other governing bodies have established rules and regulations that discourage and prohibit gambling among their student-athletes. These rules attempt to protect the integrity of college sports and the well-being of its participants. If found guilty of gambling, student-athletes could face sanctions ranging from suspension to complete ineligibility. In addition, student-athletes could also face legal ramifications. Recently, four University of Iowa student-athletes pleaded guilty to criminal charges for underage gambling. These student-athletes added to the growing list of alleged gamblers from both the University of Iowa and Iowa State.
