Ivy League football will now participate in FCS playoffs
For the first time since 1945, Ivy League football teams will be eligible to compete in the FCS playoffs, starting in 2025. This historic change to the Ivy Group Agreement, which has long prohibited postseason play, was driven by a proposal from the Ivy League’s Student-Athletes Advisory Committee (SAAC) and approved by the Ivy League Council of Presidents. Ivy League players will finally have the opportunity to compete for a national championship, marking a significant milestone for both the league and college football as a whole.
Will they be competitive?
The Ivy League’s strong tradition of competitive success suggests they will be. Over the past 14 seasons, the league has achieved a non-conference winning percentage of .500 or higher in 12 of them, and since 2017, Ivy teams have collectively gone 119-49 (.708). Their success extends to the professional level, with over 20 Ivy alumni securing roster spots in the NFL and an Ivy player winning the Super Bowl in 10 of the last 12 seasons.
